Drum Circle
|
|
|
Drumming is a beat that is naturally
innate within all of us. Drumming is especially natural in children.
If you’ve ever seen a child beating on pots, or with spoons on the
table; this is the child’s way of connecting with their personal beat through
personal expression. It
may sound like loud noise to us, but to them it’s beautiful music.
Drumming is
so important to our children that, in fact, numerous studies regarding
drumming and children show reduced tension, anxiety, and stress.
Other studies also demonstrated the calming, focusing, and healing effects
of drumming on autistic children, as well as emotionally stressed teens. During this
class, the teen will be taught how to find their inner rhythm
within the rhythm of the circle.
The teen will be guided in gentle journeying
(meditation-style) to find and connect with their own personal power
animals. These
techniques will help the children learn ways to connect, communicate and
express themselves within their environment and world on a daily basis.
And most of all have fun. Please Bring: Notebook/pen, drum with beater, , small hand towel (to cover their eyes), blanket to lay down on.
